Fresco Gallery proudly announces the opening of “Anchors,” a group exhibition featuring monoprints and limited-edition works by five distinguished artists, accompanied by an original soundscape. This exhibition, running from August 10 to September 15, 2024, delves into the theme of identity as a grounding element in the realm of artistic expression.
Artists and Works Featured in “Anchors”
“Anchors” showcases the works of Chigozie Obi, Daëna LaDeese, Mobolaji Ogunrosoye, Myles Igwebuike, and Falida Nkomo, with an original soundscape created by Shiela Chukwuolozie. Each artist explores the multifaceted concept of identity, bringing their unique interpretations to the exhibition:
- Falida Nkomo honors her mother’s legacy through her work.
- Daëna LaDeese examines her cultural and spiritual identity.
- Myles Igwebuike narrates transformative stories from African culture.
- Chigozie Obi offers social commentary on both personal and societal issues.
- Mobolaji Ogunrosoye investigates the distortion and perception of (West) African women.
These artists utilize various printmaking techniques to express how identity serves as a source of support, stability, and authenticity in artistic creation.
