Egypt’s long-awaited Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) has officially opened select galleries to the public, marking a major milestone for the world’s largest archaeological museum. Located just two kilometers from the Great Pyramids of Giza, this trial phase allows visitors to explore 12 main halls filled with more than 100,000 ancient artifacts.

The museum, which has been under construction for over a decade, offers a glimpse into the grandeur of Egypt’s ancient civilization. Spanning 120 acres, it houses treasures from different periods, including the Old Kingdom and the Graeco-Roman era. Highlights include monumental statues, sarcophagi, and mummified remains, showcasing Egypt’s rich history of kingship, society, and religious beliefs.

Though a formal grand opening date has yet to be announced, this partial opening gives museum officials a chance to fine-tune operations while welcoming 4,000 visitors daily. Among the anticipated highlights is the King Tutankhamun collection, which will be unveiled in future phases.

With cutting-edge technology, including virtual reality features and immersive multimedia displays, the Grand Egyptian Museum is set to become not just a repository of ancient treasures, but a dynamic educational experience.
