In a spectacular display of holiday spirit, South Africa was aglow with the magic of Ferrero Rocher® as the tallest tower in Sandton, Johannesburg, was transformed into a beacon of golden light. On the evening of November 23, 2023, the international Ferrero Rocher® Light Up Your Christmas campaign arrived in Sandton, Johannesburg, marking a grand debut for the brand in South Africa.
Ferrero Rocher®, renowned globally for its sumptuous blend of smooth milk chocolate and crunchy hazelnuts wrapped in elegant gold foil, brought its signature touch of luxury to the South African skyline. The chosen canvas for this dazzling event was none other than The Leonardo, standing proudly at nearly 228 meters high in the heart of Sandton.
Using state-of-the-art projection-mapping technology, the Ferrero Rocher® team enveloped The Leonardo in captivating animations, casting a mesmerizing display visible for kilometers around. A specialized projector, the Christie M 4K25 RGB unit, flown in from the UK, was employed alongside two Christie Boxer 4K 3 Chip True Life DLP UHD 30000 Ansi Lumens projectors to intensify the color spectrum, creating a truly immersive experience for onlookers.
Justin Matley, Marketing Manager for Ferrero Rocher®, Raffaello, Nutella, and Tic Tac at Ferrero South Africa, expressed his delight, stating, “What a truly golden celebration! To commemorate the occasion, an exclusive gathering of 50 South African celebrities, media personalities, and influencers gathered to witness the spectacle. Adorned in “a touch of gold,” attendees, including influential figures like Mihlali Ndamase and Lasizwe, toasted to a peaceful and joyous festive season, basking in the radiant glow of The Leonardo.
In addition to the visual feast, Ferrero Rocher® unveiled its festive mobile messaging app, Share your Golden Greetings, allowing users to send beautifully designed salutations of love and joy to friends and family.
As part of the celebrations, Ferrero Rocher® launched a competition inviting South Africans to purchase any Ferrero Rocher product in November and December for a chance to win a Ferrero Rocher® 96-piece cone, promising to elevate their next celebration into a golden moment.
