The Manifesto of Possibilities — 15 years of perspective by La Galerie 38 (Volume 3)

On the occasion of its 15th anniversary, La Galerie 38 presents The Manifesto of Possibilities — 15 years of perspective by La Galerie 38 (Volume 3), a major collective exhibition unfolding in Marrakech from 5 February to 7 March 2026. Following a first chapter presented in Casablanca in December 2025, this third volume is hosted in a dedicated, specially conceived exhibition space within Ambiances d’Ailleurs, located adjacent to La Galerie 38 at 68 Rue Tarik Ibn Ziad, Guéliz, Marrakech. The exhibition opens with a vernissage on Thursday, 5 February 2026, from 7:00 PM, as part of the Gallery Night organised by 1-54 Marrakech, situating the project within the wider constellation of events animating the city during the fair week.

Rather than functioning as a retrospective, Le Manifeste des Possibles articulates a forward-looking curatorial proposition that reflects on fifteen years of vision, experimentation, and commitment by La Galerie 38 since its founding in Casablanca in December 2010 by Fihr Kettani and Mohammed Chaoui El Faiz. Conceived as a manifesto, the exhibition asserts art as a space of audacity, circulation of ideas, and ongoing transformation, reaffirming the gallery’s long-term engagement with contemporary African and international artistic practices.

Volume 3 brings together a wide constellation of artists whose practices have shaped, accompanied, and challenged the gallery’s programme over the years. The exhibition features works by Ghizlane Agzenaï, Meriam Benkirane, Max Boufathal, Ines-Noor Chaqroun, Soly Cissé, Aliou Diack, Philippe Dodard, Youssef Douieb, Kendell Geers, Mustapha Hafid, Mohamed Hamidi, Yacout Hamdouch, Younes Khourassani, Jems Koko Bi, Abdoulaye Konaté, Siriki Ky, Mohamed Lekleti, Adjaratou Ouedraogo, Carlos Salas, Fathiya Tahiri, Barthélémy Toguo, and Dominique Zinkpè. This intergenerational and transcontinental selection reflects the gallery’s commitment to fostering dialogues across geographies, mediums, and conceptual approaches.

Installed within the premises of Ambiances d’Ailleurs, the exhibition occupies a space conceived specifically for this project, extending the gallery’s physical footprint into an adjacent environment. This spatial gesture is emblematic of La Galerie 38’s broader ethos: to create porous exhibition formats that exceed conventional boundaries, enabling works to resonate within contexts shaped by encounter, circulation, and shared experience. The proximity to the gallery itself underscores the continuity between La Galerie 38’s daily programme and this anniversary statement.

Curatorially, Le Manifeste des Possibles is structured around the idea of art in motion—an art that does not look back nostalgically, but rather projects itself toward the future. The exhibition frames artistic practice as a field of experimentation and inquiry, where forms, materials, and narratives remain in flux. Painting, sculpture, installation, and mixed-media works coexist within the exhibition, affirming the plurality of expressions that has long defined the gallery’s identity and programme.

The manifesto-like dimension of the project lies in its insistence on openness and circulation. By bringing together artists working across diverse cultural and aesthetic contexts, the exhibition articulates La Galerie 38’s belief in an African art scene that is fully embedded within global networks of creation, without being reduced to fixed geographies or singular narratives. The works presented operate as propositions—each one contributing to a broader ecology of possibilities where art becomes a site of encounter, friction, and transformation.

This third volume also resonates with La Galerie 38’s ongoing expansion and institutional ambition. Since opening its Marrakech space in 2023, the gallery has consolidated its presence across multiple cultural nodes and is set to inaugurate a new space in Geneva in 2025, led by associate partner Julie Fazio. This transcontinental development is not conceived as mere geographic growth, but as the construction of an ecosystem of circulation, where artists, ideas, and publics move fluidly between Africa and Europe.

La Galerie 38’s sustained participation in major international fairs—including 1-54, AKAA, Abu Dhabi Art Fair, Menart Fair, Urban Art Fair, Art Genève, and Art Dubai—forms an essential backdrop to the exhibition. These platforms have shaped the gallery’s role as a vector of international visibility for the artists it represents, reinforcing its commitment to supporting production, residency programmes, publishing, and documentation as integral components of artistic practice.

Within Le Manifeste des Possibles — Volume 3, the multiplicity of artistic voices foregrounds the gallery’s belief in plural narratives and non-linear histories. The exhibition does not seek to unify practices under a single aesthetic or thematic umbrella; instead, it embraces heterogeneity as a curatorial position. This diversity becomes the exhibition’s strength, reflecting fifteen years of evolving relationships between the gallery and the artists it accompanies.

Ultimately, Le Manifeste des Possibles functions as both a celebration and a declaration. It celebrates fifteen years of sustained commitment to contemporary art, while declaring an ongoing investment in the future—one defined by openness, experimentation, and the continuous reconfiguration of artistic possibility. As Volume 3 unfolds in Marrakech, the exhibition affirms La Galerie 38’s conviction that art remains a space of freedom, encounter, and infinite potential, capable of generating new imaginaries in a world in constant transformation.
